"It's a fun environment.
You meet a lot of new people and hear a lot of musicians"
Once a month Jacki supports membership activities at San Jose Jazz by working at events, answering questions, and greeting members. She also helps out with the annual three-day Jazz Festival, one of the largest jazz festivals in the country. San Jose Jazz serves Silicon Valley with musical performances and produces a variety of innovative educational programs for students.
"It's a fun environment. I get to meet a lot of new people and hear a lot of talented musicians I wouldn't normally listen to. It's been a good education for me," said Jacki. She has been particularly impressed with the organization's educational component designed to expose youth to jazz as well as nurture the talents of musically-gifted children in the area. "It's wonderful to be able to share my passion for music with others, especially the kids." Jacki P., Manager at Applied Materials, Santa Clara
There are various ways to give of your time and talents for San Jose Jazz:
In the Office
Help San Jose Jazz with year-round activities. Come once a week to help with ongoing membership, education and/or fundraising efforts. Enter data, create spreadsheets, send mailings, solicit donations from merchants, make and return phone calls, etc. This is a 4 hour shift, once a week, to be scheduled at your convenience.
At the Festival
Upon check-in, all volunteers will receive their job assignment, a San Jose Jazz T-shirt, drink tickets good for a soda or water, and a wristband that allows free access to the festival on the day of work.
