See you in April 2009...

April is Jazz Appreciation Month.

This is an effort, led by the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, to draw greater public attention to the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz and its importance as an American cultural heritage. In addition, JAM is intended to stimulate the current jazz scene and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz—to study the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and support institutional jazz programs.

During April, San Jose Jazz presents special events like workshops, lectures, concerts, to celebrate Jazz.

Thank you!
Thanks to all the people who made the 2008 JAM a great month: the 4 jazz photographers, Tom Ehrlich, Peter Maiden, Andy Nozaka, and Walter Wagner; the speakers of our JAM lectures series: Orrin Keepnews (Record Producer), Richard Scheinin (Jazz writer for the Mercury News), Bob Parlocha (Radio personality and musician), John Santos (musician), Dave Ellis, Jonathan Poretz, Dayna Stephens. And special thanks to Robert Long III, JAM coordinator in the San Jose Jazz staff, who worked hard to make all this happen.
