Third Annual Silicon Valley Composer Showcase

Full Spectrum Jazz Big BandFor the third year, composers from Silicon Valley are invited to submit their compositions to San Jose Jazz. A panel of three judges will perform a blind selection of the compositions selecting the 10-12 compositions to be heard at the Showcase. The music will be performed by the Full Spectrum Jazz big band with the composers joining the band in some cases. For the last two years, this competition produced some of the most exciting music heard at the series.

The highly acclaimed Full Spectrum Jazz 18-piece big band has delighted audiences with traditional and modern jazz since 1996. Performance styles range from laid-back Count Basie swing to poly-rhythmic modern Latin. Full Spectrum Jazz has a diverse catalog of exceptional music, including original compositions and venerable jazz standards.

altThe Improv is located in one of City of San Jose's Historic Landmarks. The Jose Theatre, built in 1904, is the oldest theater in San Jose. Designed by William Binder, this is the earliest surviving example of his work. The Theatre has been entirely restored to its original splendor in 2003.

The theatre parterre has chairs and tables in a charming cabaret style. Food and drinks are served.

Free street parking available on Sundays.
$5 parking right across the street from the theater.
