Delhi 2 Dublin was initially conceived as a live
collaboration for a one-off club gig in 2006, but the performance was so
well-received that it led to an official formation. This Vancouver-based
five-piece plays an energetic mash-up of bhangra, Celtic, dub reggae and electronica
with global rhythms and club beats. Over their six-year career, they have
released four albums and an EP. Their latest, Delhi 2 Dubland, features a set of dub mixes of tracks from past
album Planet Electric. It also
includes two newly written songs.
The diverse backgrounds and musical influences
of the group’s five members inform their melting pot philosophy and sound,
leading Hour Magazine to dub the
collective “the United Nations of rock ‘n’ roll.” Strong word-of-mouth support
for their live performances has enabled them to build a loyal and
continent-wide fan base, leading to festival and tour performances in Canada,
the UK, the US, Europe and the Pacific Rim.
