When it comes to Saxophonist, Vocalist and Composer Grace Kelly, people seem to be divided into two groups: those who marvel at her proficiency and creativity, and those who have yet to encounter the 19-year-old wunderkind. Since age 12 Kelly has garnered accolades, performing and recording with the likes of Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Phil Woods, Harry Connick Jr., Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves, Cedar Walton, and James Cotton, among others. She has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Apollo Theater, Birdland, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Juan Les Pins Jazz Festival, Tanglewood Jazz Festival, Detroit Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, London.
Kelly has received the ASCAP Foundation’s Young Jazz Composers Award in 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011 and won “Jazz Artist of the Year” at the Boston Music Awards in both 2008 and 2010. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, the DownBeat Magazine Critics Poll named her one of the "Alto Saxophone Rising Stars,” making her the youngest ever to receive the honor. She has also released seven full-length albums including 2011’s Grace and a collaboration with Lee Konitz entitled GRACEfulLEE, which garnered a rare 4.5 “stars” in DownBeat and has been widely acclaimed as one of the best Jazz recordings of 2008.
