If you ask any San Jose musician to name an accomplished, world-traveled music educator and performer, John Worley would be it. This versatile trumpet, flugelhorn, and post horn player has toured internationally with the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band, Pete Escovedo, Quincy Jones, Louie Bellson and countless other legends.
Worley is co-founder and co-host of San Jose Jazz’s bimonthly Wednesday night Jazz jam, where he can be found tooting his horn under the moody lights of the Hedley Club.
Worley’s talented new group, the Mo Chi Quartet, was formed with local pianist Murray Low, bassist Ken Okada, and drummer Kevin Higuchi in 2011. Their sound blends Japanese folk melodies with original Jazz compositions, celebrating the rich Asian heritage of Mo Chi’s members.
