The Honey Island Swamp Band is living proof that great things can come from difficult situations. Members Aaron Wilkinson and Chris Mulé met in 2005 after fleeing Hurricane Katrina and, by chance, the group was able to find a steady gig at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco. With musicians Sam Price (bass), Garland Paul (drums), and Trevor Brooks (B-3 Organ), they build their sound around a “Bayou Americana” ideal, mixing a guitar, mandolin, Hammond B3 and 4-part vocals into a unique New Orleans-style groove. The band was able to successfully move back to New Orleans in 2007, and went on to record two full-length albums, the first of which winning Best Blues Album from Offbeat Magazine. They hold the title of Best Emerging Artist (Offbeat Magazine) and Best Roots Rock Artist of the Big Easy Awards in New Orleans. The Honey Island Swamp Band now resides in New Orleans and is currently touring across the US. honeyislandswampband.com
