  For those who were not in attendance, last night's youth concert at West Valley College was fantastic!  The crowd was both vocal and enthusiastic.  The Youth Jazz Orchestra was excellent and featured a wide variety of superb soloists but the night belonged to the Youth Latin Ensemble.

Last week, the superintendent of East Side Union High School District proposed cutting all the sports programs in the district to balance the budget. The school board then faced a meeting packed with students and parents protesting the proposed action.

 Why don't people show the same level of support when arts and music programs are on the chopping block? Thoughts? 

Let's start a new thread here. Many of us have been at concerts, festivals, bars, restaurants, airports, and other places where a great story about jazz came about. Here's a place to share those stories with others interested in this music. You can contribute a meeting with a famous musician, a fun event, a jam session - you get the idea.

 Please share something that happened to you.
