From trumpet player, band leader, and great guy John Worley...
This Spring has ushered in some busy times here in Mountain View - with all of my booking duties for the "Wednesday Night Big Band" series (every Wed. night) and "Tuesday Jazz Jam" (2nd and 4th Tues/month) at Senzala Restaurant. Senzala in Sunnyvale is quickly becoming the place to see music in the Silicon Valley/South Bay area. As you can tell by the itinerary below, we've got quite a few events on the books for this month, which brings me to....
April is Jazz Appreciation Month and if you are in the mood to celebrate and enjoy America's original art form in a LIVE music situation, here are some suggestions:
April 7th, Wed - Silicon Valley Repertory Jazz Orchestra's "Tribute to Duke Ellington" at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. *
April 10th, Sat - John Worley and WorlView 4.0 at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. This one is a special event for Worlview Fans. First 30 people will get a FREE Jazz IS... poster. April 13th, Tues - Jazz Jam w/ the John Worley and Oscar Pangilinan Quintet at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. First 15 paid jamming musicians will get a Coupon for free admission to the Fasmania concert on April 14th. **
April 14th, Wed - Fasmania Big Band at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. *
April 20th, Tues - Ed Johnson and Novo Tempo Octet "Iluminado'" A Tribute to Ivan Lins at Yoshi's in Jack London Square, Oakland.
April 21st, Wed - San Jose Jazz Orchestra at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. *
April 27th, Tues - Jazz Jam w/ the John Worley and Oscar Pangilinan Quintet at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. **
April 28th, Wed - Full Spectrum Jazz at Senzala Restaurant. 7:30-10:30pm. This concert will be a fund raiser for the Crittenden Middle School and San Jose Jazz's outreach jazz education programs. *
April 30th, Fri & May 1st, Sat - John Worley and WorlView 4.0 at D'Vine Jazz and Wine in Morgan Hill. 8-11pm. Believe it or not, it is closer than Yoshi's for us South Bay folks - and no parking fees either.. D'Vine Jazz & Wine is one of my favorite places on the planet. Live Jazz & Fine Wine in one place, Heaven!

The Lee Pardini Trio is set to play at San Jose Jazz Showcase this Saturday, April 24th at City Lights Theater and at Left Coast Live in June. They are known as one of the hottest bands in the San Jose area, unique in both sound and the way they approach the jazz genre. Inspired by the diversity in San Jose, the Trio tries to bring something new to every performance. They will be showcasing music of the legendary singer Chaka Khan this Saturday, so be sure to catch them this Saturday!
Thanks to South Bay Live Wally Schnalle's 4tet comes to San Jose's Theatre On San Pedro Square. This is his A-team featuring Jeff Massanari on guitar, Dann Zinn on sax and Jason Muscat on bass. This tight working group covered the West Coast from LA to Seattle last year. They will be previewing the material from their upcoming new CD.And after recently completing the recording process they're ready to let loose at this exceptional venue with Wally's latest compositions.
