Coke Escovedo (born Joseph Thomas Escovedo) was as a member of the rock band Santana, and left the band to from his own group Azteca with his brother Pete Escovedo. Their high energy, cutting edge Latin Rock sounded produced two albums, a self-titled debut in 1972 and Pyramid of the Moon in 1973, under the Columbia label.Coke Escovedo released a self titled solo album in 1975 and subsequently released two more recordings in 1977 and 1978.   During the 1970's and 1980's Escovedo toured with Santana, Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock and appeared with his niece Shelia Escovedo (aka Shelia E.), vibrant percussionist and collaborator in the band lead by Prince.
