Blackhawk in San Francisco Revisited

When Charlie Parker should have been playing the Say When Club, he was hanging out at the Black Hawk jamming as were Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie.  The stories the walls of the Black Hawk
could tell: especially the one about the launch of Johnny Mathis, San Francisco's home town boy who made very good.  To celebrate this incredibly rich and storied jazz history, the Tenderloin community is bringing back an
evening of incredible jazz performances in a setting reminiscent of the Black Hawk.

Event: San Francisco's famous 1950's Black Hawk Jazz Club will be re-visited for one evening only and feature performances by jazz greats Eddie Duran, Dean Reilly, Vince Lateano and special guest John Handy.  The event is
Saturday, May 9, 2009, 7:30 p.m., 134 Golden Gate Avenue just around the corner from the original site at Turk and Hyde Streets in San Francisco's Tenderloin.

Cost:  $100 donation to benefit the North of Market-Tenderloin Community Benefit District charged with improving the area's physical surroundings, promoting public safety and changing its image.

Tickets:  Available for purchase online at www.nom-tlcbd.org or time permitting, by mail at NOM-TL CBD, 134 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102
